Review- Demon’s Souls PS5

What is Demon’s Souls?

The Demon’s Souls Remake, as the name implies, is a remake of the original Demon’s Souls on the Playstation 3. However, not only does it update the graphics of the original game, it completely upgrades it in almost every way. Everything from the gameplay to the beautiful visuals is revamped to the highest quality ever. Demon’s Souls completely uses the new Playstation 5’s technology to make a mixture of beautiful medieval settings that leave you in awe.

Sadly, the Demon’s Souls Remake is exclusive to the PlayStation 5, which can be hard to find at a cheap price. Luckily, I was able to get one back last Christmas and got the game with it. Even though I had Demon’s Souls right away, I didn’t get addicted and mind-blown until very recently. I tried the game back when I got it, but could never get into the hard and sometimes repetitive gameplay.

My Story With the Game

As the name implies again, it was the precursor to the Dark Souls series. Notorious for its extreme difficulty and amazingly designed boss fights in amazing settings. The thing was, I was not into the Dark Souls series even a little bit. I’ve tried Dark Souls 1-3, Bloodborne, and more, yet I never could get into the gameplay. With this new Demon’s Souls game, I recently tried getting into it again, and with that came addiction.

Something about Demon’s Souls visuals, and slightly less complicated gameplay, got me extremely invested in the game. When I first started the game, I could barely get past the first boss, let alone the second. However, the second time getting into it, I beat the first two bosses the first time, as I let myself understand more of the gameplay.

The Gameplay

The gameplay of Demon’s Souls consists of fighting through tough and interesting worlds as you upgrade and find a loot with souls. You gain souls through killing enemies, bosses, and finding loot. The game is very satisfying once you upgrade your gear and character to start destroying enemies you once could barely get away from. The gameplay is nothing new to the series, but it surely nails it like some other games can’t

The Story

The story is nothing I was ever fond of, mostly because it is not the selling point of the game. It’s a simple story about a king becoming greedy with souls and awakening monsters in his kingdom, in which you, the main character, must vanquish these demons and save the kingdom. Overall, it’s a very simple medieval-themed plot that can be slightly intriguing, but again not the selling point.

In conclusion, Demon’s souls will give you a variety of gameplay options, whether you want to be safe and defensive, ranged and offensive, etc., you will have fun. It’s fun to explore the medieval world while stargazing over the complex enemies and brilliantly designed bosses. While the story takes a back seat for me personally, it still is nothing to complain about. Demon’s Souls Remake is an amazing time and deserves an 85% on my review scale.
